I Hear Two Voices Talking But I Only Listen To One
Who do you listen to?
“You either listen to the world or you listen to God. You can’t do both at once.” — Harrison Wendland
Harrison Wendland said that in his article Prune Your First Fruits and his quote struck a chord with me. We all have two voices talking to us but only one voice tells us the truth.
What The World Says
The world says I am worthless. I’ll never find love. I won’t be happy. I won’t see that dream come to pass. I am not qualified for that position. I am lazy. I am not disciplined.
The world will tell me I am a slave and I am not free. The world will say I am guilty. The world won’t show me mercy for my mistakes even though I am like everyone else, a flawed human being. The world will throw stones at you.
The world says resources are limited. That I won’t be abundant. I won’t find joy. That I’m average. The world will say I can’t go over there, they won’t accept me.
The world will tell me I’m not good enough. I’m not smart enough. I’m not fit enough.
The world will tell me negative things and want me to believe they are true.
