Treat Your Writing Like A Business

There is a special opportunity that is available to all of us who choose to pursue it and that is making a living from your writing.

If you’re on Medium, I’m sure you have read or seen the articles of people posting how much they make from the platform. They are beautiful articles because their sole purpose is to inspire us that what they did we can do.

But there are mental obstacles in the way that stand between you and making a living as a writer.

The biggest obstacle is in how you approach your writing. I know for me and even sometimes now I only write when I have an idea or when I’m inspired. When we write only when we feel inspired or have an idea then we’re writing as a hobby. Hobby writing isn’t enough to make a living as a writer.

Imagine if your favorite author only wrote when they felt inspired or when they had an idea that they knew people would like. We would probably never have heard of them.

But the reason why we have heard of them and why we like their writing is because they treat their writing like a business. They worked on their writing like it was their job, even if they had a full-time job they worked during the day. They would still work on their writing in…
